I couldn't do it
But at least I can say I gave it a valiant effort. Last night, I finally let it sink in that I would not be able to finish my shawl in time for tonight's party. Out of 250 rows, I have 184 completed. Oh well, this just means I can do some last minute shopping this afternoon and buy a wrap.

Well, you can wear it to next year's Christmas party.
That's too bad. I was rooting for you - I still want to see it finished though!
